The Faith Community Responds to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita

Hurricanes Katrina and Rita were two of the most destructive storms to hit the Gulf Coast in decades. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita and the unprecedented number of people affected, voluntary organizations accepted donations to fund their disaster response, relief and/or recovery efforts in Texas, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.

Washington Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster and Faith-Based Groups responded to the needs of people and families displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Through reports, stories, and links, this web site tells how WAVOAD and Faith-Based Groups  collaboratively worked together to assist displaced families relocated in the Northwest,  and collaboratively worked together in disaster response and relief efforts in the Gulf Coast.
